Back to School

I was going to write a post tonight, but I found this GREAT devotional online. And it just clicked. I thought I would share it :) Enjoy!

Then the blood of Jesus, God’s Son, cleanses us from every sin. (1 John 1:7b)
School is back and with it a new day, a new month, a new year. The clock turns over and the calendar page flips. Ahead of us is a whole era of successes and failures, of triumphs and trials, of laughter and sorrow. Another page also turns in our essay called life.
This paper is unlike any other in the history of mankind. While the author is on earth, the transcript resides in heaven. Every detail of every day is written and recorded. From the time you cheated on your science test, to the helping hand you lent a neighbor across the street. Each night the page is turned and a new tale waits to be told with the rising sun, until the last paragraph concludes and the final draft is submitted.
It is during this time that we find out if we made the grade or if we flunked out. With trembling hands you place the copy on the desk and await the inevitable verdict. All it takes is one mistake, one slip, one error, and one sin, to keep you from passing. While you did your best, you know that it is far from perfect and perfection is all that counts now. Then a life long Friend steps in and interrupts the grading process. With a quick stroke of a pen, every punctuation error and misspelling is corrected and handed over.
This was not your average pen and no ordinary ink was used. It was the blood of Christ that was shed on the cross almost 2000 years ago. As you await the eternal decision, God looks up and with a smile marks an A and says, “Well done, good and faithful servant, welcome home.”
